Breast damage while breastfeeding
Hello,
I have a 9 week old baby and I am breastfeeding her. I have damage on my nipples which happened early on but I am very motivated to breastfeed so I have set aside the issues with my breasts. I am hoping you can give me some advice. I attached a photo of the damage to my nipples. Do you know if there is any way to correct the issue while still allowing her to breastfeed? Our pediatrician suggested that I pump full time instead of breastfeeding but she doesn't want to take a bottle. I would love to continue breastfeeding if possible but the damage to my nipples is not getting better. Thanks for any advice!
Kind regards,
Erika
From the lactation consultant:
The photo did not attach. Even if it did, I could not tell you what caused the damage. I would need to SEE you breastfeeding and assess both you and the babies mouth. The only way this can be done is in person with a board certified lactation consultant. You can find one by going to ilca.org or calling your local hospital for a referral.
Sorry I cannot be more help but nipple injury cannot be diagnosed/treated in writing.
