colostrum at 28 wks

Hi,
I am 28 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I have never experienced early lactation and am a little excited as I was not physically able to breastfeed my first two. My question is, can i begin expressing and pumping now? Can I freeze the colostrum prior to birth?
Please let me know.
Nikki

Answer from the lactation consultant:
It is not advised to pump your breastmilk while pregnant. Pumping can stimulate uterine contractions and thus lead to early labor.
Had you been nursing another child since the beginning of pregnancy, that would pose minimal risk. However STARTING to pump at this stage would not be advisable.

Thanks for asking,
