Learning to breastfeed From the Person That I Least Expected it From.

I had just given birth to my first baby, and everything around me was so hectic. My family was in from out of town, and so was my husband's family. There was so much going on that I didn't realize that it was time for my first attempt at breast feeding my child. The lactating nurse was not available to teach me how to breast feed, and my daughter was getting fussy. I was freaking out because I did not know how to get my little girl to latch on, when all of the sudden my husband tells me: "This is how you do it." He told me that he had read all of the books on how to breast feed, and that he had seen all of the videos on the proper techniques. He really surprised me, because my husband is a "manly" man, and when it came time to breast feed, here he was showing me how to breastfeed. By the time that the lactating nurse came in to talk to me, my child had finished her very first feeding...all thanks to my husband. We are expecting our second child, and here I find my husband watching videos and reading books on breast feeding again... he says he need to touch up on our breast feeding techniques.
