Nursing In Public

First time NIP at the zoo!
I have been breastfeeding my one and only son. I was able to start when he was about a month old. (due to problems with his prematurity) He is now almost a year! Since then we've been going like pro's. It's hard sometimes. I've nursed in public a few times, finally cracking that 'too scared to' shell. Every other time since he's been born I ran into a bedroom or bathroom, or even sat in the car. But our NIP total is now up to about 4 times! The second time I did something awesome happened. A mother and her daughter were walking by, I was at a beach, and she stopped and tells he daughter, 'you know that is amazing to see something like that'. She looks at me and thanks me for doing the best thing in the world for my son. I was slightly embarassed and happy. After she left (still singing praises lol) I just glowed. I couldn't believe just for feeding my baby I could get so much reinforcement and positive comments! I was scared she was about to say something bad but I was blindsided with thank you's! It's shown me that there are plenty of 'good' people left. Lol. I want to nurse in public more and I try to do so every once in awhile so as to not forget that it's a natural and beautiful thing that I shouldn't have to hide from! :)
Note from Liz, RN, IBCLC: "You go girl, keep nursin that baby boy, and whip it out where ever you are!". Thanks for the awesome photo....
