Sleepy baby - does not want to nurse

Hi,

My baby is a very sleepy baby and I try to keep him up by undressing him however he still falls asleep. Lately he only wants one breast and feeds for only 15 minutes. When I try to switch breasts he refuses it and goes back to sleep. Is 15 minutes enough milk?

Answer from the lactation consultant:
I answer this question in my section on the first two weeks. But in a nutshell, a 15 minute feeding AFTER YOUR MILK COMES IN , is totally normal. As long as your baby is feeding 8-12 times per day (24 hours) and is having a minimum of 6 soiled diapers, then all is likely well. Neither of my daughters took both sides until they were 6-8 weeks old. Now that you have foremilk and hindmilk, the baby is likely filling up on one breast.
